RESPONSE TO THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK
(Released 03-16-20)
We will be implementing a program for PreK—12th Grade utilizing Distance Learning (at-home online instruction) on Thursday, March 26, as we comply with Governor Lee’s request for all schools to close through March 31. Therefore students will not return to campus on Monday, March 23, as planned, but will begin at-home instruction on Thursday, March 26.
We are committed to doing everything we can to lessen the spread of the virus while keeping our commitment to give our students the best education within our power. However, when it comes to how to react to this new strain of the coronavirus, we are in uncharted waters. To quote one superintendent, “In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little.” Therefore, beginning on March 26, we will move to at-home distance learning. While our campus will be closed to students, our teachers will be conducting online lessons.
Moving forward, we will continue to monitor any government recommendations or mandates that may be in place after March 31. If no other government recommendations or mandates are in place by March 31, we will make decisions on a week by week basis.
